Create the perfect thank you video for your customers

Thank you’s are a great way to follow up on business, but most of the time, people don’t say thank you enough. Of course, there’s always social media and email that don’t get the same kind of attention as a personalized, short video clip.

You have to think of a way to show your customers how grateful you are for their business. Yet, you don’t want to sound like every other boring small business out there. You know, the ones whose videos start with “Thank you for choosing us.”

Also, sending video thank-you notes to your customers sounds like a complicated process. Is this something that will take up too much time, require technical skills, and just cost too much to do for one-off customers?

It doesn’t have to be! Create a lifetime customer relationship with the customer by creating ‘Thank you’ videos on their purchase with the following five tips

Write out a rough plan.

When creating a video for your customers, it’s a good idea to plan what you’ll say in advance. That way, you can ensure you get all the information you need to convey and that your thank-you video comes off as sincere and thoughtful.

Writing out the script helps you organize your thoughts. Still, it also enables you to remember the little details—like thanking them for their business or mentioning specifics about their order. Then when you’re shooting the video, you can just read off of the script as you go along instead of trying to improvise and risk forgetting something important.

It can be tempting to want to wing it when making a video—especially if this is the first time you’ve done anything like this—but trust us: planning your message will save you plenty of headaches later.

Focus on one thing

When you’re creating thank-you videos for your customers, focus on the customer’s happiness. It’s important to let customers know that they’re appreciated. Still, it’s even more important to show them how happy you are that they chose you. Focus on what made them happy and why they’ll continue to be satisfied with your services in the future. If you show them the value of what they got from your company, they’ll feel more satisfied and more likely to return.

This is not to say that you shouldn’t also add relevant information about your business or even some humor—thank-you videos are meant to create a positive customer experience after they have completed a transaction with you. However, the main thing you want your customer to get out of the video is that you appreciate their business and care about them.

Keep it short and sweet.

There’s a lot of room for creativity when you’re making a video to thank your customers. But videos don’t have to be long to be effective, so keep yours as short and sweet as possible. It’s hard enough to get customers to watch anything, so keep the video under three minutes (even two is better) and ensure the first few seconds grab their attention.

Also, the customers who have already received their order aren’t looking for a sales pitch; they’re looking for a way to express their gratitude and show you how much they appreciate your hard work. The key is to let them do that. If you have a camera that takes decent-quality video, and maybe even if you don’t, it’s worth creating a short thank-you video for your customers. It doesn’t have to be fancy, a few seconds long will do, as long as it shows your gratitude and makes the customer feel special.

Don’t be too perfect.

When putting together a thank-you video, you might think every detail has to be perfect. While that might be true for a wedding or other big occasion, your customers will notice if you spend too much time and effort on a video that will be seen only once by the handful of people who are getting their products shipped out.

While customers love to receive a video thank-you from you, they don’t want you to be too perfect. They want to see a person behind the business who cares about their experience with your company. They want to see your personality shine through. And they want to know that you are putting out a quality product. So while it’s essential to get the details right—maintain eye contact, no fidgeting, and have a consistent background—don’t worry about being too perfect

Personalize it

Thank-you videos are an excellent way for brands to express their gratitude to customers. However, it’s important not to make them feel like a one-size-fits-all video. While thanking someone for a purchase is essential, it should also be personalized.

Include the name of the person being thanked because people love hearing their name. Make sure to mention what you appreciate about them because we all like to know that we’re appreciated, too! Don’t forget to thank other people involved in the interaction—this might be another team member or the company’s social media manager.

Finally, make it interactive by asking for feedback about the product or offering something special for those customers who are willing to participate!

Thanking your customers with a video is a great way to deepen your relationships with them and give them a more personalized experience.
