Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: March 5, 2025
Stoute Web Solutions is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to make our website as inclusive as possible.
Conformance Standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. WCAG 2.1 AA is the current widely-adopted standard for web accessibility and addresses a broad range of recommendations for making web content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Measures We Take
Stoute Web Solutions takes the following measures to ensure the accessibility of our website:
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and meaningful markup to convey page structure to assistive technologies.
- Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are operable via keyboard alone, with visible focus indicators throughout.
- Color Contrast: Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
- Text Alternatives: Images and non-text content include descriptive alt text or are marked as decorative when appropriate.
- Skip Navigation: Skip-to-content links are provided to allow screen reader and keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation.
- Form Accessibility: All form fields include descriptive labels, and error messages are programmatically associated with their respective inputs.
- Reduced Motion: Animations and transitions respect the user’s
prefers-reduced-motionoperating system setting. - Responsive Design: Content reflows to accommodate different viewport sizes and zoom levels up to 200% without loss of information or functionality.
- ARIA Attributes: Where native HTML semantics are insufficient, WAI-ARIA roles, states, and properties are used to provide additional context to assistive technologies.
- Link Purpose: Link text is descriptive and distinguishable, so users can understand the destination or action without relying solely on surrounding context.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some areas of our website may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:
- Third-Party Content: Embedded content from third-party services (such as calendars, maps, or social media widgets) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. We encourage our vendors and partners to follow accessibility best practices and choose accessible alternatives whenever possible.
- Legacy Media: Some older images or documents may lack alternative text or accessible formatting. We are actively remediating these as we encounter them.
Compatibility
Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS)
- Screen magnification software and browser zoom
- Speech recognition software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Control)
- Operating system accessibility features (high contrast mode, reduced motion, large text)
Our website is not compatible with browsers older than three major versions or mobile operating systems older than five years.
